كَريم ساكِن في إسكندرية، ونِزِل الصُّبح يِشتري شُوَيّة خُضار للبيت. دَخَل مَحَلّ خُضار قريب مِن بَيته.
Karīm sākin fī Iskandariyya, wi-nizil eṣ-ṣubḥ yishtirī shuwayyet khuḍār lil-bēt. Dakhal maḥall khuḍār 'arīb min bēto.
Karim lives in Alexandria, and in the morning he went out to buy some vegetables for home. He entered a vegetable shop near his house.

Good morning, Uncle Mahmoud.

A kilo is twenty-five pounds.

Kharag Karīm min el-maḥall wi-rigi' el-bēt wi-ma'āh kull el-khuḍār illī kān 'āyizo.
Karim left the shop and went back home with all the vegetables he wanted.
